Galloway Fisheries Trust came along to assist UUET in installing water temperature monitors in the Urr river. We know water temperatures in the rivers are rising but the information collected from these ties in with data gathered from other rivers to build a picture of how climate change is impacting on our local rivers.
Riparian planting aka planting native trees along river banks creates shade and food for invertebrates and in turn fish and is an important step to help protect the biodeversity in and around the rivers.
